How “Wasted Public Land” Alongside Highways is Being Used for Energy Development

Vacant public land alongside highways and interstates is slowly being transformed for energy development, such as in West Georgia, where a 5-acre solar site next to an exit ramp is producing enough energy to power more than 100 homes, reports Grist.

The initiative is being carried by groups like the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, which is working with state DOTs across the country to evaluate unused land for development.
